About The Position

Gatesville ISD keeps an open pool of applications for custodians on our website. Future openings will be filled from the pool of applicants. The applications are made available to the Maintenance Director for review, and will be kept on file for one year. State law requires that all school employees must be fingerprinted. Primary purpose is to maintain safe, clean, and attractive facilities.

Requirements

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
Ability to operate cleaning equipment
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies

Nice To Haves

Prior custodial experience preferred

Responsibilities

Demonstrate thoroughness, reliability, and a degree of accuracy in performing work assignments
Work cooperatively and maintain positive attitudes in the work environment
Have good attendance and use time productively on the job
Follow District policies, rules and regulations
Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness in dealing with staff, students, parents, and visitors to the facility
Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms
Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean
Assist with opening and closing building each school day
Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities
Use equipment and cleaning supplies properly and safely
Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
Perform other duties that may be assigned by the building Principal, the building Head Custodian, or the Maintenance Director
