About The Position

The entry-level position requires performing daily assigned routine work, which involves cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disposing of trash, disinfecting, sanitizing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or moving, indoor/outdoor work, and duties varying from simple to complex. Provide and maintain a clean environment for students, staff, faculty, and the public community. Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sanitize all areas of campus, centers, and properties. Clean inside and outside of buildings, offices, classrooms, common areas, dormitories, student and staff housing, and all areas associated with Diné College. Daily routine of custodial work, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash disposal, inventory management, and cleaning/chemical usage and handling of chemicals. Knowledge and understanding of household and commercial-grade cleaning materials and chemicals. Thorough knowledge of the Standard Date Sheet of all household and commercial grade chemicals and their properties. Clean and maintain all custodial and maintenance equipment, tools, and supplies. Low and high cleaning and dusting, interior and exterior windows and doors. Seasonal work (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) conditions and preparations. Assisting with all Diné College Events and Functions, on and off campus. Must be able to work in a team concept environment and can adapt to new areas of campus and centers.

Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Must be willing and able to learn new skills, abilities, and techniques as they relate to custodial duties and tasks.
  • Must have custodial knowledge.
  • Must have computer/tablet knowledge.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and directions given by the supervisor and team leads.
  • Must be able to meet and coordinate with coworkers, staff, and supervisor.
  • Must have communication and networking skills.
  • Must be able to work well with others, teamwork, and team lead.
  • Ability to read and write (English).
  • Clerical work involving the day-to-day tasks of an office, such as answering phone calls, managing records, data entry, and scheduling appointments.
  • Handle and control heavy powered equipment and do minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Move and lift heavy objects ranging up to 50+ pounds.
  • Shoveling snow and ice removal.
  • Valid State Driver's License is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two (2) years of work experience is desired but not required.
  • Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
