About The Position

Join a mission-driven team dedicated to youth development and outdoor education. As a Camp Ranger, you'll help ensure a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for Scouts , leaders, and public visitors . The Camp Ranger is responsible for the maintenance and continual operation of the physical facilities and property at Resica Falls Scout Reservation. The position is a hands-on position, and skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, automotive, and construction are vital to the success of the role. The Camp Ranger will give staff leadership to the Assistant Ranger. The Ranger is a representative of the Cradle of Liberty Council and Scouting America to those in camp, so customer service is a key trait that the candidate must possess.

Responsibilities

  • Protection and control of property and people.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy camp environment, know emergency procedures, and adhere to the Guide to Safe Scouting and BSA National Camp Standards.
  • Patrol the property, as necessary, for trespassers, vandalism, and fire.
  • Know how to operate and keep all physical property and equipment, including tractors, UTV's, and mowers, in safe operating condition.
  • Be particularly alert to conditions that affect health & safety and sanitation practices.
  • Establish work schedules for routine maintenance, operational procedures, and ordering supplies.
  • Work closely with Camp Director and Campmaster Corps to effectively resolve questions of facility operation, checking groups in and out, issuing equipment, submitting records, and related matters.
  • Ensure the reservation is operational on-time for year-round and summer operations.
  • Ensure smooth operation of pools, sanitary systems and water systems as outlined in the maintenance plan or by state or local regulations.
  • Maintain harmonious relationships with local officials and government services, adjoining landowners, and neighboring communities.
  • Represent the council in contacts with visitors, Scouters, and Scouts.
  • Recruit and work with volunteers to help multiply the work that can be accomplished.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices around the Ranger's residence and throughout the property.
  • Maintain a harmonious relationship with the Camp Director, Program Director, and other seasonal staff.
  • Comply with Council business procedures, including accounting for petty cash and purchases.
  • Submit regular reports and maintain essential business records.
  • Supervise maintenance contractors as assigned.
  • Supervise the Hunting and Fishing programs, and the related people involved.
  • Assist with the set-up and logistics of council program and activities as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
