About The Position

Each member of the Adventure Science Center team is expected to deliver consistent, high-quality service with enthusiasm, professionalism, and respect for all ASC guests. The Summer Camp Internship provides hands-on, dynamic opportunities to support and implement innovative, active programming for summer camp participants while developing skills in teamwork, communication, and STEM-based education. The Counselor in Training (CIT) supports the daily operations of the camp and youth programs department. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in program coordination, administration, and youth services while learning how programs serve children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise and interact with campers, facilitating activities and experiments with a focus on STEM content.
  • Offer support to lead counselors in planning and executing daily camp activities.
  • Lead at least one camp activity in the camp curriculum per week under the guidance of lead camp counselor.
  • Participate in a weekly evaluation to support personal growth and skill development.
  • Encourage a positive and exciting learning environment, fostering curiosity and a love of STEM.
  • Assist with classroom and camp area set-up and tear-down, including organizing materials for each day and daily cleanup.
  • Support camper behavior needs by encouraging positive interactions and promoting a safe, respectful environment.
  • Utilize creativity, innovation, and inspiration while facilitating camp activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model by promoting a safe and respectful environment for all campers.
  • Assist in emergency and evacuation situations as needed.
  • Always Maintain focus and attention on campers; personal phones and electronic devices are not permitted while supervising children.
