About The Position

Under direction of a Caltrans Electrical Supervisor, incumbent is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical and electronic devices associated with state facilities. Incumbents may also perform lead work as required involving but not limited to office duties, and lower level electrical positions. This position requires the operation of light trucks, personnel hoists, vans and automotive vehicles. Incumbent may drive heavy trucks, if properly licensed. With training and certification where necessary, incumbent may be required to operate equipment such as trenchers, forklifts, air quality monitors, hoists and cranes. Must possess a valid Class C driver's license, Class A or B highly desirable. May also at times assist sign crew when equipment or operations is needed. This position is considered the full journey level for this class.

Requirements

Must possess a valid Class C driver's license, Class A or B highly desirable
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Electrician II exam
For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions
This position requires visual and color acuity adequate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job
Willingness to work at odd hours
Be available for day or night calls
Stay abreast of current technological changes in the fields of electricity and electronics
Work up to 550 feet above pavement or water
Work in the midst of traffic
Have the ability to withstand working under adverse (e.g., cold, wet, windy) weather conditions
Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment

Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a transcript/degree U.S. equivalency report evaluation that indicates the number of units and degree to which the foreign coursework is equivalent
