About The Position

The call center operator will answer incoming calls to PBX and physicians answering service and processes them accordingly. Monitor alarms and handle emergency codes for hospital. Prioritize calls for physicians and patients. This role is on-site at Woman's Hospital. Remote work is not available. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Two years telecom, answering service, or call center experience. Two years customer service-related experience and basic PC knowledge. Responsibilities: Answers all calls in a friendly manner using the proper greeting as trained per type of incoming call. Determine the caller’s need and offer the best solution to help the caller. Calls will be transferred, information given or a message will be taken electronically in accordance with the specific training given. Upon notification of an emergency situation, the operator will contact the code teams and follow code procedures. Contact physicians to relay messages electronically in accordance with procedures trained. Each message is treated as a legal document with recordings and audits every 12 hours. Fast typing is required to get complete and accurate information. Contact and relay messages to physicians using the correct procedure in accordance with individual doctor instructions. Use the electronic system to communicate pertinent physician information including temporary instructions, doctor's locations etc. Work well with team mates and communicate information to co-workers. Complete the message information immediately after conveying messages to physicians. Ensure all messages are delivered to physicians in a defined time period or escalate. New staff member will be required to work each shift for a few days during the first few weeks to understand how all shifts work and the impact they make on the whole team. Hurricanes, inclement weather situations and staff shortages due to sickness, training or vacations may offer extra work if available. New staff member will know their schedule 6 weeks in advance and will never work the same holiday 2 years in a row unless requested.
