About The Position

Joe Coffee Cafe Leads are knowledgeable, enthusiastic and dedicated coffee professionals serving to support general business operations, staff development and coffee quality. They do this not only through assisting the General Manager with operational tasks and initiatives but the Cafe Leads also helps to ensure execution of Joe quality standards for all offerings as well as hospitality. This is achieved through data collection in conjunction with the QC team, routine equipment maintenance and staff coaching. Compensation: $20 per hour + tips. Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day store operations including inventory management, banking and cash handling
  • Develop understanding of café operating and finance goals to aid in achieving targets
  • Staff training - Conduct new hire training and provide continued development after bar training.
  • Ensure robust coffee environment in café through instock retail displays, actively coaching staff on offering to customer
  • Perform GM duties when the GM is away/unavailable (communicate with HQ, handle employee issues, report on store concerns, etc.)
  • Ensure brewed coffee is always served fresh and at Joe Coffee standards
  • Dial in all brewed coffee
  • Manage coffee inventory, ensuring coffee is brewed with proper time off roast
  • Maintain tasting logs for both drip coffee and espresso
  • Maintain beverage recipes and grind guides
  • Ensure staff understands and can talk to customers about the coffee and espresso we serve and sell
  • Provide staff with information about new coffees and coffee menu changes, and conduct in-store tasting with staff for all new coffees
  • Train and continually coach staff on topics including, but not limited to Bar flow, efficiency & Cleanliness, Palate development, Overall drink service (hospitality, presentation, latte art)
  • Ensure all brewing equipment is maintained anc cleaned by Joe Coffee standards
  • Record all cleanings, maintenance, and issues in the stores' Google speadsheet
  • Communicate directly with Coffee Technician for urgent issues
