This position, within the Spyderco Manufacturing facility, is primarily responsible for the development and creation of manufacturing prints and 3D models of various products and production fixtures. This position is coupled with other members of the Engineering team, collaborating on complex problem-solving for various projects as well as establishing supportive methods for production in a 3D environment. Primarily done so through prototyping and testing within CAD and with hands on work on the floor of the factory. Schedule: Monday -Friday 7:00am-4:00pm Compensation: $23-$25 (Experience, skills, and knowledge will be taken into consideration and adjusted accordingly)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certified Solidworks Associate (CSWA) is required.
  • Able to read and understand manufacturing documents, reviewing and holding tolerances and specifications.
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint experience is required
  • Verbal/Nonverbal – Easily and quickly convey any messages; speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens attentively and seeks clarification; responds well to questions; maintains professional nonverbal communication analogous to situation.
  • Written –Writes clearly and informatively with a high level of professionalism and sophistication; varies writing style to meet needs; proficient spelling ability.
  • Must be able to lift 55lbs.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and reach frequently.
  • Must be able to be on feet for up to 2 hours at a time.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a Mechanical Engineering related capacity or CAD Drafting is strongly preferred.
  • Solidworks 2+ experience is preferred, other CAD related experience will be considered.
  • 3D printing experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring tools and instruments, including but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators is preferred.
  • Possesses rudimentary understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knife knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish manufacturing prints through CAD and review with Engineering to ensure proper dimensioning has been applied.
  • Aid the Management and Engineering team, to review new products handed down from R&D and plan for production.
  • Take feedback from Engineers and methodically apply adjustments or additions to manufacturing prints and/or product models in a 3D environment.
  • Review and analyze complex mechanical systems and understand the interactions between parts in CAD environment to ensure proper functionality of product or fixture.
  • Assist the Engineering department with file and model standardization to ensure a proper efficient and effective process flow.
  • Process prototypes through the facility, including working with Management and factory crew to assess prototype processing and development.
  • Utilize 3D printing and other means of testing to accomplish various tests and prove out hypotheses.
  • Construct and maintain high level Engineering documentation that details new product and existing product development.
  • Maintain Process Control and Strictly adhere to all job instructions and details.
  • Aid in development of Engineering and Factory processes that empower continued growth and strive for success.
  • Prioritize the health and safety of all staff above all other assignments
  • Responsible for adhering to company safety program requirements, including but not limited to, general safety standards and participating in monthly safety trainings.
  • Follows all federal and state safety rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organizational standards and completes any cleaning or organization assignments.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of seniority within the organization, including company ownership, management, supervisors, and operators.
  • Ability to present high level technical details and operational plans to both internal and external individuals.
