About The Position

The Airport CAD & GIS Manager is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating maps, sketches, exhibits, drawings, diagrams, plans, and facilities information using AutoCAD, Revit, and other digital systems. This role supports airport construction, engineering projects, presentations, and regulatory submittals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in AutoCAD operation and drafting.
  • Knowledge of DBASE, AutoCAD, and GIS software applications.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and layout activities.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of mathematical computations used in construction
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to coordinate work of contractors and consultants.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both oral and written.
  • Ability to utilize sophisticated computer hardware and software systems for various engineering and airport applications.
  • The CAD and GIS Systems Manager must be diligent in adhering to all work-related safety rules, procedures and regulations and take the precautions necessary to comply with the Airport Authority safety policy.
  • As a CAD and GIS Systems Manager, the employee must have the mental capacity to provide support to all departments; must be capable of successfully interacting with employees, outside agencies and the general public; develop and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, fellow employees, outside agencies and the general public and have the mental capacity to provide support to the Vice President, Engineering and Environmental Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • CAD & GIS Data Management Maintain accurate and current CAD drawings and GIS datasets for airport infrastructure, facilities, and utilities. Ensure proper version control and archiving of “as-built” and “record” drawings. Proactively convert legacy paper files to digital formats and integrate them into GIS systems.
  • Mapping & Spatial Analysis Create maps and spatial visualizations to support planning, construction, and operational needs. Perform spatial analysis for airfield layout, land use planning, and environmental assessments. Apply knowledge of mapping coordinate systems to ensure spatial accuracy and consistency across all datasets.
  • System Integration & Technical Support Integrate CAD/GIS data with airport systems such as asset management, work order tracking, BIM, and facility management platforms. Provide technical support and training to staff using CAD and GIS tools.
  • Project Coordination Collaborate with engineering, planning, and operations teams on capital improvement projects. Coordinate with consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with CAD/GIS standards.
  • Standards & Quality Assurance Develop, maintain, and monitor compliance with CAD and Revit standards across all projects. Enforce CAD/GIS procedures and conduct quality control reviews to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Support Support FAA, TSA, and other regulatory reporting requirements using spatial data and mapping. Prepare exhibits and documentation for environmental reviews and federal grant applications. Prepare FAA Part 77 – 7460 airspace submittals and coordinate with FAA, airport staff, designers, and contractors to monitor and manage airspace impacts. Demonstrate knowledge of FAA airspace study submittals for on-airport projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • File Management Maintain both physical and electronic project files. Ensure all files are organized, current, and indexed, with “record” and “as-built” drawings cataloged in an electronic system.
  • Field Support & Surveying Assist with field visits to check sites, elevations, staking, and perform survey operations. Make mathematical calculations to verify clear zone obstructions, property lines, and other site-specific data.
  • ALP & 3D Analysis Maintain the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) set, including 3D analysis capabilities for line-of-sight and obstruction studies.
  • Federal Assistance & Documentation Compile applications and pre-applications for federal assistance. Produce blueprints, sepias, and other technical documents as needed.
  • Utility & Property Records Record and enter locations of utilities, property lines, easements, and rights-of-way into CAD and GIS systems.
  • Contractor Oversight Provide reports on contractor performance and verify the accuracy of supply requests and deliverables.
  • Departmental Support Provide CAD and GIS assistance to other airport departments as needed.
  • Other Duties Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
