About The Position

Seeking a strategic and detail driven GIS Manager with strong leadership capabilities and deep experience in enterprise level GIS systems to support Electrical Engineering Projects. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and a forward-thinking problem solver who can manage people, technology, and complex geospatial workflows with confidence. This position is responsible for overseeing GIS projects, managing and mentoring GIS personnel, ensuring data accuracy and workflow efficiency, and guiding the development and execution of GIS initiatives across the organization. This position also interfaces directly with Clients on GIS projects, prepares proposals for projects, and presents deliverables to Clients. The position is located at our Boerne office and may require occasional travel to project sites or field data collection efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of professional GIS experience, with increasing responsibility and demonstrated leadership.
  • Proficiency in ESRI GIS software, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, Field Maps, and dashboard creation.
  • Experience managing GIS teams and coordinating cross‑departmental GIS activities.
  • Familiarity with GIS development (Python, Arcade, ModelBuilder) and client‑specific GIS applications.
  • Experience applying advanced GIS techniques to solve complex problems and develop new workflows.
  • Strong (effective) written and verbal communication skills,
  • Exceptional computer skills, including GIS platforms, project management, spreadsheet, and documentation software.
  • Strong skills of time management, organizational and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to lead teams, coordinate across departments, and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Clear and effective communication, including public speaking and leadership communication.
  • This position requires the ability to listen and hear, good eyesight, sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands and arms. Some fieldwork may be required.
  • Implementation and management of ArcGIS Enterprise

  • Strong understanding of electrical utility GIS processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the GIS department, providing mentorship, training, performance management, and strategic direction across multiple projects.
  • Prepare proposals for GIS projects, meets with Clients to present GIS capabilities and present deliverables.
  • Oversee licensing and system architecture, ongoing administration, performance, and user roles of GIS system.
  • Maintain, enhance, and innovate Survey123 forms, Field Maps, dashboards, user experiences, and other GIS applications using advanced technical expertise and creative problem-solving.
  • Coordinate GIS activities across engineering, construction, inspection, and field operations, ensuring strong stakeholder communication and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement new GIS workflows, make authoritative decisions, and integrate GIS data with engineering tools such as PLSCADD and AutoCAD to support accurate design and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical support on project work, working alongside the GIS team to resolve issues/ develop solutions.
  • Collaborate with teams to determine additional support and projects for GIS teams.
