About The Position

The Cable Technician 1 is responsible for supporting structured cabling installation by pulling cable, assisting senior technicians, handling materials, and using hand and power tools. This is an entry‑level role ideal for someone looking to build skills in telecommunications, structured cabling, and low‑voltage construction.

Cable installation
Punchdown
General labor
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must possess and be proficient with all required tools.

Responsibilities

Pull cable under the direction of senior technicians.
Assist Tech 2 on installations and daily project tasks.
Run and handle materials as needed for job completion.
Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Climb ladders and work at heights when required.
Lay out and install wireway, bus duct, cable tray, switches, receptacles, and other devices.
Build closets, including mounting and installing backboards, cross‑connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic components, and related hardware.
Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling as required.
Complete IDC connections such as terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
Pull wire and/or oversee and direct conduit installation and wire pulling.
Operate tools and equipment that require two hands, such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jackhammers.
