About The Position

TEKsystems is seeking a Low Voltage Technician to support commercial structured cabling projects. This individual will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber cabling systems in a commercial environment. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with fiber installation, cable termination, and Fluke testing, and can work independently or as part of a team to meet project timelines while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Requirements

Experience pulling and installing fiber optic cable
Experience testing cabling using Fluke testers
Experience terminating copper and fiber optic cabling
Strong communication skills and high level of dependability
Self‑motivated, professional, and team‑oriented
Proven problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
Ability to act as a liaison with customer representatives
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals
Willingness to travel within the branch and/or regional territory as needed

Nice To Haves

Experience dressing and organizing cable (preferred)

Responsibilities

Perform pre‑termination work including organizing, forming, dressing, labeling cables, and determining proper length and slack
Pull, route, suspend, and support cable using cable tray, J‑hooks, D‑rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems
Build and install telecom closets, including: Backboards Racks and patch panels Cross‑connects Fiber optic hardware Grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling
Install work area outlets for floor and wall locations
Terminate CAT3 and CAT5 jacks
Mount faceplates and surface‑mount boxes
Follow company and customer labeling standards
Complete all IDC connections including 110 and 66 blocks and patch panels
Perform cable testing and troubleshooting: Continuity testing of horizontal and riser cable Use of volt‑ohm meters and tone sets Troubleshoot opens, shorts, crosses, and transposed pairs Identify active voice and data circuits
Accurately complete all required paperwork including timesheets, work orders, material transfers, and change orders
Follow all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards
Perform additional duties as assigned
