About The Position

The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling and networking hardware to support voice, data, and video communications across a range of environments. This role includes tasks such as cable installation, termination, labeling, and testing for fiber optic and copper cabling. The Structured Cabling Technician works closely with other IT and infrastructure teams to ensure the network's physical layer is secure, organized, and optimized for high performance and scalability. This position requires the ability to independently identify and fulfill responsibilities with minimal oversight. The position is expected to effectively prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in structured cabling; experience with copper and fiber optic cable installation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure components, such as switches, routers, and patch panels.
  • Experience with cabling in commercial environments, data centers, or industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as crimpers, punch-down tools, cable testers, and tone generators.
  • Knowledge of cabling standards, such as TIA/EIA-568, TIA/EIA-606, and others related to structured cabling systems.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs.), work in tight spaces, and occasionally climb ladders.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a logical approach to diagnosing and resolving issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Open to travelling up to 50% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as BICSI Installer, CompTIA Network+, or related credentials are a plus.
