About The Position

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS: Monitor key indicators for the department to ensure minimum standards are met on a daily basis; Monitor key product lines to procure re-sale inventory while maximizing turns and minimizing items out of stock; Negotiate advantageous pricing, freight and spoilage allowances; Implement directives from Management KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Complete knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures Extensive knowledge of customer and market trends and ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements Extensive knowledge of customer base, specifically the Hispanic Market, on which to base purchasing needs ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain the day-to-day efficiency of the department and in negotiating the best freight and product cost (i.e. volume buying, freight and negotiations) Review key indicators on a daily basis and address concerns as needed to the VP of Purchasing Review the out-of-stock reports on a daily basis in order to monitor individual Buyer performance Monitor sales volume of assigned product lines Procure new items for presentation to sales for preliminary approval for presentation to the monthly buying committee and guide the assigned Buyers in the coordination of the committee Review and assist in reducing and liquidating slow moving and obsolete inventory for all lines Coordinate any necessary inventory count requests with the Warehouse Manager Maintain inventory at acceptable levels to minimize out of stocks (Fill-in-ratio should be a minimum of 99.7%) Assist in the coordination of all promotions, food shows and trade shows as needed

Requirements

  • Bilingual written and spoken Spanish & English
  • Business degree from an accredited University or at least 2 years of purchasing, sales, or related field experience; or appropriate mix of education and experience
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail, problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both Spanish and English
  • High performance and a strong team player
  • Maintaining compliance with policies and procedures
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Responsibilities
