Buyer Trainee (Sales) – Scrap Recycling
About The Position
Our family‑owned scrap recycling company is seeking a Buyer Trainee to join our team. This is a hands‑on, paid training position designed for someone interested in a long‑term career in sales, and commodities. The Buyer Trainee will spend approximately one year rotating through all areas of our operations, gaining a full understanding of how scrap material moves through our business—from scale and processing to logistics, pricing, and customer relationships. This training ensures you are fully prepared to succeed as a Buyer, responsible for purchasing scrap material and building strong supplier partnerships. We offer a great, family friendly first shift, Monday through Friday schedule, great wages and a complete benefit package.
Requirements
- Strong interest in sales, business, or commodities
- Willingness to learn and work in a hands‑on industrial environment
- Good communication and relationship‑building skills
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to rotate through multiple departments
- No scrap industry experience required—we will train the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Purchase ferrous and non‑ferrous scrap materials
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers
- Understand market trends and pricing
- Work closely with operations to align purchasing decisions
- Represent the company professionally in the marketplace
