About The Position

BioTown operates across beef livestock, meat processing, renewable energy, fertilizer application, and logistics. We build and maintain the internal systems that power these operations, from business applications and data workflows to infrastructure and industrial integrations. We value practical builders who can connect code to real-world impact. The Role We’re looking for a junior-to-mid level developer who is primarily a coder but is also eager to grow into a well-rounded technical operator. This role is roughly: 60–70% application development and coding 30–40% broader IT, systems, and technical problem-solving You will work directly with our Systems Engineer to build internal tools, improve workflows, connect systems, and help maintain the technical backbone of our operations. This is not a pure SCADA role. While you may occasionally interact with industrial systems, the core of the job is building software and solving practical technical problems across the business.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of coding or internal tools experience
  • Strong SQL fundamentals (joins, aggregations, filtering, performance basics)
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript
  • Solid understanding of APIs and how systems connect
  • Comfortable learning new technologies quickly
  • Willingness to occasionally work on-site in operational environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low-code tools (Retool, Appsmith, PowerApps, etc.)
  • Python scripting
  • Basic server or networking familiarity
  • Exposure to SCADA or industrial systems (Ignition, PLCs, OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT)
  • React or modern frontend frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Build and modify internal tools using SQL and JavaScript
  • Work inside low-code platforms such as Retool and Airtable
  • Write backend logic and scripts in Python or Node.js
  • Design clean, practical UI/UX for internal users
  • Connect applications to APIs and external services
  • Build dashboards, automations, and data workflows
  • Assist with server and infrastructure tasks
  • Troubleshoot integrations between systems
  • Research and evaluate new technologies
  • Help maintain databases and data integrity
  • Support internal users with technical issues when needed
  • Jump into new tools or platforms as projects evolve
