The Business Process Analyst III is an individual contributor responsible for analyzing, designing, and improving moderately complex to complex business processes and the supporting technology solutions. This role partners closely with business stakeholders and Digital & Information Technology (D&IT) teams to ensure business requirements are clearly defined, solutions align with enterprise standards, and technology investments deliver measurable business value. The Business Process Analyst III applies a strong understanding of business operations, information systems, and industry practices to recommend process and system improvements. This role may guide and mentor less-experienced analysts and contributes to initiatives that span multiple functions or business units. Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4–6 years of experience in business process analysis, business systems analysis, or a related role.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

  • Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting business requirements and supporting system or process improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting business process improvement initiatives enabled by information technology.
  • Experience with requirements management, process modeling, and systems analysis methodologies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise document management, workflow, or process management platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, document, and optimize moderately complex to complex business processes and workflows.
  • Elicit, define, and document business and functional requirements through research, workshops, interviews, and process analysis.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements for system enhancements, custom development, or packaged software solutions.
  • Support application and solution development activities including requirements definition, design reviews, testing, and production support.
  • Collaborate with business Subject Matter Experts to assess current-state processes and define future-state solutions.
  • Facilitate the adoption of best practices, standards, and policies for the effective use of enterprise technology tools.
  • Participate in cross-functional and cross-divisional teams to support business cases, cost/benefit analysis, and return-on-investment evaluations.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions that meet business needs while conforming to corporate architecture and security standards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and third-party service providers to support project delivery and resolve application or process-related issues.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and documentation to support process changes and technology adoption.
  • Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior analysts on analysis techniques, documentation standards, and best practices.
  • May provide functional guidance or mentoring to less-experienced analysts
