The Role: The Business Planner plays a critical role in executing and enhancing core business processes for the Automation organization. This position serves as the primary connection point for strategic decision-making, ensuring Automation & Cybersecurity plans align with GM’s broader mission and priorities. You will partner closely with leadership on financial strategy, resource planning, Workplace of Choice (WOC) initiatives, and cross-center collaboration. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities with a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and strategic insight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or manufacturing engineering
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels across central office and plant locations
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Slack
  • Proactive, critical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset and a collaborative, One Team approach

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or manufacturing engineering (experience across multiple areas preferred)
  • Advanced expertise in Power BI, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

Responsibilities

  • Conduct forecasting, budgeting, and operational analysis to support departmental targets
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Talent Acquisition, and Leadership to align resource needs with program demand
  • Lead cross-functional planning for the annual 5-Year Strategy
  • Evaluate organizational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, developing actionable recommendations
  • Identify, standardize, and optimize core business processes
  • Facilitate leadership communications, including Center Reviews, All Leader Meetings, team meetings, workshops, and All People Meetings
  • Support evaluation and prioritization of Workplace of Choice initiatives
  • Provide clarity and alignment for managers and leaders on ME Lighthouse goals and deliverables
  • Assist leaders and teams in meeting organizational and Lighthouse commitments (training, skills assessments, moment initiatives, program reviews, etc.)
  • Support Program Reviews by elevating launch status updates to leadership
  • Manage and continuously improve collaborative communication platforms (Automation Slack, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Develop and deploy AI-driven tools, dashboards, and workflows to streamline business processes
  • Serve as an internal resource to guide teams in adopting and effectively leveraging AI capabilities across the Automation organization
  • Collaborate with other ME Centers on strategic initiatives and enterprise-wide alignment
