What we are looking for: This Business Operations Supervisor 1 will serve as a member of the District Leadership Team, providing oversight within all programs to the managerial staff of the District. Duties include: Provide fire and non-fire related financial information, budget, payroll, purchasing, and contract coordination for the District. Prepare and provide support in the development and execution of the District’s fiscal year budgets through the management and oversight of tracking, projecting, researching, and analyzing of expenditures and revenues in multiple programs. Review and make recommendations on fiscal budgets in relationship to LAB and ORPICS reports. Prepare reports with complete and accurate financial information on a timely basis. Oversee the preparation and implementation of agreements and contracts and provides coordination on human resource issues. Work closely with Salem’s Protection and Business Services Programs on financial policies and implementation. Provide oversight and controls of the data entry inputs for various internal databases and computer systems which support all aspects of the District business operations. Provide direct/indirect supervision and mentorship to all District administrative personnel. Provide support to Tillamook Forest Center administration as needed and directed by District Forester in coordination with Center Director. Coordinate the District office interface with the many different interest groups and the public that visit the office on a daily basis for information on fire restrictions, forest practices notifications, recreational opportunities, miscellaneous forest products permit, just to name a few.

Requirements

  • Three years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Driver’s License Check - This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business. If your license is from outside Oregon, you must submit at least a three-year court/DMV printout. If you have an Oregon driver’s license, a record check will be conducted on the top candidate to ensure a valid license and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given for experience with knowledge and experience in finance, business, or accounting from an accredited four-year university.
  • This position requires a strong base knowledge in analytical and research methods.
  • General skill in writing and presentation of reports.
  • A high degree of work product accuracy is required.
  • Competency with all Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Competency communicating orally and in writing with a variety of people, answering questions and explaining information, policies, procedures, and decisions.
  • Organizational abilities to maintain manual and electronic filing systems of work product documentation as well as provide for the archiving of key paper and electronic documents.
  • Knowledge of the general principles and practices of budgeting.
  • Understand complexity of state budget process and agency fiscal processes.
  • Experience and knowledge of basic management skills including motivating and directing employees and planning, organizing and decision making.
  • Ability to recognize the need for disciplinary action and to recommend/initiate any necessary actions.
