Business Operations Manager - Spark

CrusoeDenver, CO
6d$140,250 - $170,000

About The Position

Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI Factory company with a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. Our competitive advantage—"Speed is the only moat"—is directly tied to our ability to rapidly build and deploy our own modular power and compute infrastructure. Crusoe Spark is a startup within a scale-up. As the Business Operations Manager, you will be the "Chief of Staff" for the Spark Business Unit, responsible for building the operational backbone that allows us to scale from 20 to 100+ units per year.

Requirements

  • Operational Background: 8+ years of experience in Business Operations or a "Founder’s Office" role in a high-growth hardware/infrastructure environment.
  • Analytical Excellence: Exceptional modeling skills; you can turn complex data into a clear narrative for executive leadership.
  • Process Design: Experience building "playbooks from scratch"—turning ad-hoc deployment and development processes into scalable business systems.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Proven ability to drive results across Engineering, Sales, and Finance without direct reporting authority.
  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of hardware unit economics, gross margin drivers, and Capex financing models.
  • Entrepreneurial Agility: A Move Fast attitude; comfortable solving a logistics crisis one hour and presenting a 5-year strategy the next.
  • Industrial Literacy: Demonstrated ability to navigate complex physical environments—whether that’s manufacturing (BOMs, lead times), energy infrastructure, or data center hardware. Understand potential trade-offs between engineering specifications and commercial outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial Ownership: Track Spark’s financial performance, unit economics, and manufacturing variances. Own the business case for new deployments of Sparks and partnership opportunities.
  • Economic Modeling: Own the business-side of new products, modeling the ROI and Capex requirements.
  • Capacity Strategy: Align manufacturing throughput with the Sales and BD pipeline to ensure we are building the right units for the right customers in the right locations at the right time.
  • Organizational Rhythm: Design and implement the internal cadence for the Spark BU, including weekly GTM syncs and quarterly business reviews.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Drive results across Engineering, Sales, and Finance to ensure the organization is rowing toward the 2027 goal of 100+ units.
  • Reporting: Build and own the standard reporting Spark metrics dashboard for Spark team, and Executive team alignment and visibility.
  • Market Entry: Lead strategic evaluations for new market entry, including regulatory requirements (e.g., CE marks) and localized requirements.
  • Scaling Systems: Transition ad-hoc deployment processes into scalable business systems, leveraging ERP and BI tools.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Evaluate and assess potential strategic partnerships with various vendors and suppliers in an effort to accelerate Spark development, deployment and commissioning.
  • Internal GTM Lead: Act as the primary commercial bridge between Spark, Manufacturing, and Cloud Product, ensuring our production roadmap and inventory are aligned with high-value customer demand and site readiness.
