About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Working under the supervision of the Revenue Cycle Manager, the support staff will assist the Business Office in all aspects of daily business as required. This does include but is not limited to helping the payment posting unit, insurance follow up unit and covering the switchboard when coverage is needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • And 3+ years' work experience in Patient Access, Medical Billing, or Customer Service.
  • EPIC knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of medical business office practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Requires sitting, standing bending and reaching.
  • May require lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment such as computer, fax, calculators and telephone.
  • Requires normal hearing and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for picking up/opening/distributing daily mail ensuring accuracy by following mail distribution procedure.
  • Assist with switch board coverage for breaks & lunches.
  • Responsible for daily retrieval of patient portal messages, ensuring timely and accurate replies.
  • Worker’s Compensation & No Fault Information Sheets – responsible for contacting patient/employer until all information is received to accurately submit claim. (minimum 3x/wk)
  • Responsible for daily fax retrieval and distribute/notate quotes to applicable staff.
  • Responsible for mailing paper claims including UPD vouchers as they are received.
  • Assist with claims follow up as needed including insurance calls or website review.
  • Assist with Business Office clerical including tasks including; filing, copying, scanning, scheduling meetings, maintains office supply inventory.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Works overtime when required.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of SDMG including Incident Reporting.
  • Attends all required in-service programs and employee informational meetings.
  • Complies with established SDMG attendance policy.
  • Provides proper notification for absences and scheduled time-off in accordance with SDMG policy.
  • Knowledgeable of individual responsibilities and duties pertaining to SDMG.
  • Safety/emergency preparedness including emergency codes.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics to be used in the work setting.
  • May be exposed to hazardous drugs.
  • Attends OSHA and annual training upon initial employee orientation and annually thereafter.
  • Other duties as assigned to support staff as determined by the needs of the Business Office.
