About The Position

The Business Lending Relationship Professional primarily focuses on managing complex commercial lending relationships with a secondary focus on business banking needs. Serving as the primary point of contact for assigned business members, this role builds trusted relationships while delivering a high-quality, member-focused lending experience. This role drives business development through existing relationships, sourcing new business opportunities aligned with the credit union’s strategic objectives, and providing guidance to members through the full lending cycle. This role prepares and presents sound credit analyses and recommendations in partnership with internal stakeholders. Maintains stewardship of loans within the assigned loan portfolio by monitoring credit quality, performance, and ongoing financial condition. In addition, the position collaborates with Retail Delivery Division and internal partners to support referrals, identify business opportunities, and provide personalized guidance to help members access the financing and resources they need to grow.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of related experience in Commercial Lending or related field
  • Ability to interpret financial statements, cash flow patterns, and industry-specific risks
  • General knowledge of commercial loan structures, products, services and underwriting principles
  • Ability to assess, monitor, and mitigate credit risk
  • Able to cultivate trust and long-term engagement with business members and internal and community partners, while collaborating across teams
  • Able to clearly communicate complex financial concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills and sound judgement to evaluate information and make well informed recommendations.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and adapting to change
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines
  • Demonstrates accountability through follow-through and ownership of assigned responsibilities and portfolio performance
