Established in 1988 in Watkinsville, Georgia, IMI has over 30 years of success in the Industrial construction industry. We have three satellite offices in Augusta, Covington, and Winder, GA. IMI supports manufacturers throughout most of the Southeast and we are expanding rapidly; big enough to have all the necessary resources, but small enough to give genuinely helpful personalized attention to everyone who puts their trust in us. IMI is seeking a full-time sales-driven Business Development Specialist local to the Athens, GA area. The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for actively supporting revenue growth, new customer acquisition, and market expansion across fabrication and industrial field services. This role emphasizes prospecting, pipeline development, customer engagement, and sales execution, while supporting brand positioning and marketing initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Experience in B2B sales, business development, or sales support (industrial or construction preferred).
Demonstrated ability to prospect, initiate customer conversations, and support deal progression.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a professional, customer-facing presence.
Proficiency with CRM systems, sales tracking tools, and Microsoft Office.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable supporting revenue targets and growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

Generate and qualify new sales leads through prospecting, market research, cold outreach, trade shows, and industry networking.
Support outside sales and leadership with pipeline development, CRM management, and opportunity tracking.
Participate in customer meetings, job walks, and site visits to identify project opportunities.
Assist with preparation of proposals, bids, sales presentations, and qualification packages.
Conduct market and competitor research to identify target accounts and growth opportunities.
Coordinate with operations, estimating, and leadership to align customer needs with IMI capabilities.
Support trade shows, conferences, and client events as sales and relationship-building tools.
Maintain and update sales collateral, digital content, and customer-facing materials.
Support business development initiatives through lead generation, market research, and customer outreach.
Assist with sales presentations, proposals, and marketing collateral.
Strengthening IMI's brand presence across digital platforms, trade publications, and industry channels.
Plan and execute trade shows, conferences, client events, and community outreach initiatives.
Manage website content, social media, email marketing, and promotional materials.
Coordinate closely with sales, operations, and leadership to align messaging with capabilities.
Track marketing performance, lead activity, and event effectiveness.
