About The Position

Legible is a fast-growing vertical SaaS company helping organizations make sense of state-level legislation in real time. Our AI-powered platform gives government affairs teams, lobbyists, trade associations, and policy professionals instant clarity into what’s happening across states — without the manual tracking, noise, or guesswork. We’re at an exciting inflection point: • ~120 paying customers • Strong product-market fit • Over 50% demo-to-close conversion rate • $2.6M seed funding from a supportive VC partner Demand is strong. Our challenge is simple: getting in front of more of the right customers. We’re hiring a Business Development Representative (BDR) to help fuel the next phase of growth at Legible. You’ll work directly with the CEO and our Founding Account Executive to identify high-value accounts, break into them, and create qualified pipeline for the team to close. This is not a “smile and dial” role. It’s a strategic, high-impact position where you’ll learn how great sales organizations are built — and play a direct role in building one. For the right person, this is a clear path to an Account Executive role.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role
  • Highly motivated, competitive, and eager to build a career in sales
  • Strong communication skills — clear, concise, and confident
  • High agency — you take ownership and figure things out
  • Curious and thoughtful — you don’t send generic outreach
  • Organized and disciplined with follow-up and pipeline management
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, in-office startup environment
  • Excited to learn directly from experienced operators and grow quickly

Responsibilities

  • Identify and research high-value target accounts across government affairs, policy, and advocacy organizations
  • Develop and execute thoughtful outbound strategies (email, LinkedIn, phone) to engage key stakeholders
  • Build account plans and multi-thread into organizations
  • Generate qualified meetings for the CEO and Founding AE
  • Partner closely with sales leadership to refine messaging and targeting
  • Leverage inbound, PLG, and referral signals to prioritize outreach
  • Track activity and manage pipeline in CRM
  • Continuously test and improve outreach strategies to increase conversion
