About The Position

Summary of Responsibilities: The Business Development Manager serves as a relationship builder and connector between clients, referral partners, and internal teams with a focus on West Michigan. This role is responsible for expanding the firm’s market presence, strengthening referral and client relationships through consistent engagement, collaboration, and follow-through. The position works closely with the Director of Business Development, Marketing, and Firm Leadership to identify opportunities, support sales efforts, and connect clients with the right solutions and expertise across the firm. Essential Functions: Supports the execution of the business development strategy through relationship development, market engagement, and opportunity support. Builds and maintains strong, trusted relationships with prospective clients, existing clients, referral sources, and key associations to generate and support new business opportunities. Maintains a systematic approach to managing and creating referral source relationships, including regular touchpoints, follow-up, and documentation. Attends networking, industry, and community events to increase brand awareness, strengthen relationships, and identify potential opportunities. Connects potential opportunities to the proper Maner team member. Creates opportunities for firm leaders and subject matter experts to connect with key referral sources, prospects, and strategic partners. Assists with gathering and sharing market insight, client feedback, and competitive intelligence to inform business development and marketing efforts. Maintains a working knowledge of all firm service offerings and identifies opportunities to introduce additional services to existing clients in collaboration with internal teams. Maintains information in Hubspot for activity tracking and opportunity creation. Demonstrates and supports the firm’s mission, vision, and values in all internal and external interactions.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Technology, Marketing or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of sales and/or business development experience.
  • Relationship building
  • Good understanding of accounting and business processes
  • Demonstrate a professional image, maturity and self-confidence when interacting with prospects, clients, referral sources and internal team members
  • Ability to connect client needs with internal expertise
  • Strong communication and follow-through
  • Organized, disciplined approach to managing opportunities and relationships

  • Excellent time management. Able to manage multiple tasks and opportunities simultaneously

  • Proficiently use a computer and CRM software
