About The Position

This position to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Business Development (BD) department. This role will ensure operational efficiency, accountability, and alignment between BD, Underwriting, and our partner accounts. The ideal candidate will bring experience in both sales and operations, a deep understanding of performance KPIs, and the ability to document, enforce, and optimize processes. This individual will act as both a strategic partner to the VP of Business Development and an operational leader who ensures the BD team is executing effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Operations, or related field (MBA a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in sales operations, business development, or related operational management role.
  • Strong background in both sales and operations, with proven ability to analyze and act on performance KPIs.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and enforce process discipline.
  • Skilled in documenting, implementing, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to liaise between teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, reporting tools, and operational platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Tableau or Power BI is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor BD department bandwidth, workload, and response times to ensure service-level expectations are consistently met.
  • Act as liaison between the BD team and Underwriting to identify, communicate, and resolve workflow or system challenges.
  • Work with our Analytics department to create reporting, as needed, to effectively measure and track department and partner performance.
  • Document, update, and enforce BD policies, processes, and best practices.
  • Support the management and review of partner accounts, including analysis of KPIs, profitability, and efficiency metrics.
  • Hold BD account managers accountable for meeting company standards and partner expectations.
  • Provide backup coverage for BD reps during travel, PTO, or absences, including escalation of issues to Underwriting or the VP of BD as needed.
  • Leverage company tools, platforms, and programs to incentivize partners to expand business with us, increase efficiency, and improve conversion metrics, while ensuring our value proposition is clearly communicated and applied.
  • Ensure BD account managers are consistently identifying opportunities to grow accounts and optimize workflows between our teams and partners, driving both increased revenue and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with the VP of BD to identify and recommend technology priorities, headcount needs, and resource allocation.
  • Build out and optimize CRM to better track partner accounts, record key personnel, capture meaningful conversations, and facilitate onboarding of new partners.
  • Provide actionable insights that improve account performance using our various reporting and analytics tools.
  • Deliver insights and recommendations that improve department performance and scalability.
  • Identify resources and personnel needs congruent with the company’s growth ambitions.
  • Help guide the department strategically to achieve growth and operational excellence.
