About The Position

Advance global business development initiatives within a market-leading Regulatory practice. Covington & Burling, a distinguished global Am Law 35 firm, is seeking a forward-thinking Business Development Manager to support the firm’s Technology, Media, and Communications practices, encompassing Technology & Communications, Media & Entertainment, Gaming, Transportation & Mobility, and Artificial Intelligence, within its prominent Regulatory practice. This role is well suited for a proactive professional ready to step into a visible leadership position and make an immediate impact. Alongside a high-performing business development and marketing team, the Manager will spearhead strategic business development, marketing, and communications initiatives. The role in action: Collaborate cross-functionally to identify priority clients, execute targeted business development initiatives, and support strategic planning, budget oversight, and quarterly practice reviews. Manage and coordinate pitches, RFP responses, and client meeting preparation, while tracking and reporting on business development performance and outcomes. Support the successful integration of lateral attorneys through strategic positioning and execution in partnership with practice leadership. Monitor regulatory, industry, and competitive trends to inform practice growth, and support high-impact sponsorships, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership initiatives. Provide comprehensive marketing and business development support, including events, content development, directory and award submissions, communications, and database management.

Requirements

  • Bring 5+ years of experience in business development, marketing or other professional services settings; prior law firm experience is strongly preferred.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills, a proactive and accountable work style, and the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
