We are seeking a Business Development Manager for the New York City Metro area to drive strategic growth for Schimenti Construction by identifying, cultivating, and securing new opportunities across retail, commercial, hospitality, luxury, wellness, and institutional sectors. This role blends market intelligence, relationship development, and cross‑functional collaboration to expand Schimenti’s footprint with both new and existing clients.

Requirements

5–10 years of business development, client management, or sales experience in construction, real estate, architecture, or related industries.
Proven ability to build relationships with senior‑level stakeholders and navigate complex organizations.
Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
Ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously and work collaboratively across departments.
Self‑motivated, organized, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, relationship‑driven environment.

Nice To Haves

Strong network within NYC’s commercial, hospitality or development communities is highly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities across priority sectors, with a focus on NYC and the broader Tri‑State region.
Conduct ongoing market research to identify emerging trends, active developers, expanding brands, and high‑potential accounts.
Develop targeted pursuit strategies for key accounts, including multi‑site programs, national brands, and high‑growth verticals.
Track and report pipeline activity, conversion metrics, and forecasting in alignment with BD dashboards and leadership expectations.
Establish and nurture relationships with decision‑makers at brands, developers, landlords, architects, and owner’s reps.
Lead introductory meetings, capability presentations, and follow‑up engagement to position Schimenti as a trusted partner.
Maintain regular communication with existing clients to identify upcoming projects, expansion plans, and partnership opportunities.
Represent Schimenti at industry events, conferences, association meetings, and networking functions.
Partner with Project Executives, Estimating, and Preconstruction teams to develop winning pursuit strategies.
Coordinate proposal development, RFP responses, and interview preparation to ensure messaging is aligned with client needs and Schimenti’s value proposition.
Support go/no‑go decisions by evaluating opportunity fit, risk, and strategic alignment.
Facilitate smooth handoff from BD to operations teams to ensure strong client experience from pursuit through project kickoff.
Promote Schimenti’s brand through targeted outreach, content collaboration, and participation in industry organizations.
Identify opportunities for Schimenti to contribute to panels, roundtables, and thought‑leadership initiatives.
Maintain a strong understanding of Schimenti’s portfolio, differentiators, and service offerings to articulate value clearly and consistently.
