Nightwing is seeking a Business Development Intern to support capture and growth efforts across our public sector portfolio. This role offers hands-on exposure to the full business development lifecycle in government contracting, including market research, pipeline development, capture support, and proposal preparation. Previously part of a leading Fortune 100 company and headquartered in Dulles, VA; Nightwing became independent in 2024 but continues to support the nation’s most mission impactful initiatives. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, or related field
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Interest in government contracting, federal acquisition, or public sector work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with government procurement tools or CRM platforms is a plus
  • Exposure to the General Services Administration (GSA) schedules or contract vehicles
  • Basic understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
  • Experience with tools such as GovWin, SAM.gov, or FPDS
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (if required)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research on federal agencies, programs, and upcoming opportunities (e.g., SAM.gov, Federal Business Opportunities/beta.SAM, agency forecasts)
  • Identify and qualify opportunities aligned with company capabilities and contract vehicles
  • Support pipeline development and maintain accurate records in CRM systems
  • Assist with capture planning, including competitive analysis and teaming research
  • Help coordinate with potential partners, subcontractors, and teaming vendors
  • Contribute to proposal development (RFP/RFI responses, past performance, resumes, compliance matrices)
  • Track and analyze contract awards, industry trends, and competitor activity
  • Support internal reporting on pipeline status and business development metrics
