About The Position

The Business Development & Events Specialist is a key force behind our firm’s most impactful client experiences. In this dynamic role, you’ll bring standout events to life across our New York office and the broader U.S. platform—seamlessly coordinating logistics, crafting memorable guest interactions, and ensuring every program aligns with strategic business development goals. You’ll own the operations of our client events from start to finish: planning and vendor management, on-site execution, and thoughtful post-event reporting. We’re looking for someone proactive and deeply connected to New York’s vibrant event scene—someone who brings impeccable attention to detail, a client-first mindset, and a passion for creating experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent significant experience.
  • At least four years of event management—ideally within a law firm, professional services environment, or the New York events landscape.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex event logistics, vendor relationships, and high-touch, client-facing programs.
  • Strong project-management and multitasking skills, with the ability to balance competing deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy across writing, copy editing, research, and data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to interact effectively with partners, clients, and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to assess information quickly, anticipate issues, adapt to changing circumstances, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency with relevant technology platforms; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.
  • High level of professionalism, resourcefulness, and resilience, including the ability to work independently, handle shifting priorities, meet tight deadlines, and perform onsite event tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the full lifecycle of client events—receptions, seminars, and thought-leadership programs—across New York and other firm markets.
  • Lead end-to-end event logistics, including venue sourcing, vendor and catering management, A/V, décor, transportation, marketing materials, run-of-show creation, and onsite execution.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to attorneys and Marketing colleagues, ensuring every program reflects firm standards and delivers an elevated client experience.
  • Oversee invitation workflows from drafting and distribution to RSVP tracking, list management, and follow-up communication.
  • Manage event budgets by securing vendor estimates, tracking expenses, and ensuring alignment with approved cost parameters.
  • Act as the primary coordinator for New York–based events, partnering closely with the Senior Business Development & Events Manager and the broader Marketing Events Team while maintaining knowledge of key venues, trends, and experiential opportunities.
  • Support post-event business development efforts through follow-up coordination, internal debriefs, and data updates in Salesforce; use internal tools (Salesforce, Outlook, document-management systems) to manage workflows and enable strong cross-office coordination.
  • Uphold the firm’s Client Service Principles by communicating clearly with attorneys, colleagues, and clients; modeling professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment; and managing rapid-turnaround requests typical of the New York events environment.

Benefits

  • MoFo offers a comprehensive benefits package starting on your first day.
  • A variety of options for medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage to meet the needs of you and your family.
  • Industry-leading parental leave and family benefits including adoption and fertility treatment options and backup child and elder care.
  • Global wellness program, including free access to Talkspace and Calm apps.
  • Annual community service day to make an impact on your community and a birthday holiday just for fun.
  • Education reimbursement annually.
  • Dedicated Talent Development team.
  • Competitive annual profit-sharing contribution.
