Description of Position The Associate will be responsible for supporting strategic investments and transactions to drive organic and inorganic growth for TPG. This is an opportunity to join a lean and entrepreneurial team with the mandate to acquire, create and grow strategically critical businesses for TPG through investments with a wide range of complexity and structures. This position will support the identification and evaluation of new investment and growth opportunities for TPG through private equity-style underwriting and transaction execution with a focus on financial services. Additionally, the role will offer a unique experience to invest across various transaction types including majority acquisitions, structured minority investments and strategic partnerships. The position is highly cross-functional and distinct from traditional private equity roles, with significant exposure to TPG’s executive office and collaboration with investment teams across the firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in building complex financial models, conducting due diligence, drafting investment committee memos, researching company and industry trends, demonstrating excellent written and oral communication and supporting workstreams across all aspects of deal execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and above, with an exceptional record of academic achievement
  • 2+ years of professional experience in investment banking and/or private equity
  • Robust understanding of accounting and finance and proficiency in financial modeling and analysis
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive, motivated, and organized; ability to multi-task and prioritize in a demanding environment with a dynamic pace; exceptional time, organizational, and project management skills
  • Outstanding communication skills; combination of verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate messaging effectively and express complex information concisely
  • Ability to coordinate and build relationships across multiple internal groups

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth research to source and evaluate potential investment opportunities across the financial services sector
  • Assess industry trends and competitive landscapes to provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making to support growth of TPG
  • Execute rigorous financial analysis, including valuation and modeling, to determine the viability of prospective investments
  • Construct sophisticated operating models to forecast financial performance and quantify value creation strategies for potential deals
  • Undertake thorough business due diligence to scrutinize target companies' business models, operations, financial stability and growth trajectories
  • Develop comprehensive due diligence materials that integrate quantitative analytics, market research, and essential background data
  • Engage with industry experts and management teams to extract critical insights and validate core investment hypotheses
  • Support due diligence across commercial, financial and tax workstreams helping manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Synthesize findings into presentations and written summaries to communicate investment theses effectively to investment committees
  • Produce comprehensive investment memoranda tailored for both internal leadership and external stakeholders
