About The Position

SkyPoint Federal Credit Union is a community-based financial institution, located in Montgomery County, Maryland, SkyPoint serves our members in the greater Washington D.C. metro region with a wide array of financial services, supported by technology, and offers great value, affordable fees, and rates through our member-owned structure. The only designated Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) credit union in Montgomery County, SkyPoint helps our members and the community gain access to the financial services needed to prosper. Through our inclusive, expert, and compassionate team, we focus on removing banking complexities, and building empowering relationships with our members to help them achieve their financial goals with simple and accessible banking solutions. With the goal of enhancing lives, fulfilling dreams and building communities, this position is responsible for supporting overall credit union initiatives by collaborating in membership growth and development efforts with community partners, special interest groups and non-profit organizations. Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, is responsible for proactively strengthening community relationships by identifying needs and providing the appropriate financial solutions. In conjunction with the Director of Business & Community Development is responsible for organizing and implementing the Credit Union's membership development, relations and engagement functions. Assist in strategizing and developing plans on how best to reach out to the community to show benefits of Credit Union membership in ways that translate into new SkyPoint FCU memberships.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge in sales, business development and deposit acquisitions.
  • Successful track record of identifying, developing and closing new
  • Excellent organizational, research, problem-solving and time management skills. Project management experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills. Strong business writing and presentation skills. Able to organize groups of people for events and initiatives.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously and produce the desired results. Previous public relations experience. Ability to be flexible in dealing with changing priorities.
  • Ability to follow-through and react quickly to changing situations.
  • Must be self-driven and highly motivated; capable of identifying needs/requirements. Takes pride in meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Ability to successfully work independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to identify issues, recommend solutions and implement resolutions.
  • PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet). Familiarity with financial institution rules, regulations and laws.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and build relationships with community partners involved in meeting community development needs. Assess whether community partners meet the Credit Union’s community development performance framework. Works to develop a referral pipeline for specialty products/services that support community partner initiatives.
  • Deliver presentations, book appointments, and events to increase product/brand awareness, generate leads and build profitable, long-term relationships.
  • Represent the Credit Union in all aspects of community outreach, including identifying opportunities to increase organization-wide engagement and strengthen the brand and reputation of the Credit Union.
  • Proactively initiate and build contacts with the ability to maintain and nurture high-level relationships with decision makers.
  • Cultivate new business partnerships; arranges site visits and attends community events of partners on behalf of the Credit Union. Seek opportunities for collaborating with and connecting community constituents.
  • Collaborate with the Business & Community Development Director to build centers of influence in the community.
  • Responsible for maintaining and enhancing Credit Union partner relations by visiting their workplace and conducting on-going Credit Union benefit presentations and seminars.
  • Participates in various outside functions that promote Credit Union membership.
  • Educate members about features and benefits of SkyPoint products and services, including new offerings, convenience services & promotions.
  • Explain and demonstrates SkyPoint digital services for members. Responsible for accessing and becoming familiar with SkyPoint’s digital services suite. Examples: Online Banking, Loan Application, etc.
  • Local travel 75% or more.

Benefits

  • Holidays: Eleven (11) paid per year
  • Leave: You will earn Paid Time Off and Personal, Sick and disability leave. Annual leave is accrued at 4.6 hours per pay period (15 days per year). Two personal days are earned per year. Sick leave is accrued at 4.62 hours per pay period with a maximum accrual per year of 120 hours.
  • Insurances: Employees are offered medical, prescription, dental, vision and disability insurance. The credit union pays a portion of the monthly premium, and the employee pays a portion. Available providers and costs will be discussed during orientation. All insurance except disability is effective the first of the month following date of hire.
  • Life Insurance: All full-time employees are required to have Group Term Life (GTL) insurance equal to 1x’s their basic annual earnings, up to $200,000. Active employees over age 65, their coverage is reduced to 65% of the pre-65 face value. This policy is County paid 80%, and employee paid 20%. Additional coverage can be purchased. Information will be available during orientation.
  • 401(a)/Deferred Compensation: You will be eligible to participate in the SkyPoint FCU Retirement 401A plan after 6 months of employment. Information about retirement options will be presented during orientation.
