About The Position

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Business Analyst to support the delivery and modernization of mission-critical, web-based digital resources for a federal government client. The Business Analyst will work closely with Product, Engineering, User Experience (UX), Quality Assurance (QA), and client stakeholders to elicit, document, validate, and test requirements for complex, data-driven systems. This role requires a strong understanding of business processes, Agile methodologies, and testing practices to ensure that solutions meet user needs and program objectives. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced Agile environment, helping teams translate business needs into clear, testable requirements while supporting high-quality delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis for web-based or digital applications
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong experience gathering, documenting, and validating requirements
  • Experience performing or supporting manual and exploratory testing of web applications and services
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States; candidates in the DMV area preferred
  • All work must be performed within the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting federal government or large enterprise systems
  • Experience with data-intensive or workflow-driven applications
  • Familiarity with BDD practices and tools
  • Scrum Master certification or other Agile certifications
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated environments

Responsibilities

  • Learn and document business processes and functional workflows
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions with Product Owners, users, and stakeholders to gather requirements
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable artifacts such as user stories and acceptance criteria, behavior-driven development (BDD)-style specifications, workflow diagrams and process flows, and use cases
  • Ensure requirements are complete, testable, and aligned with program goals
  • Define test scenarios, test cases, and acceptance criteria based on requirements
  • Execute and document results of various types of testing, including functional and regression testing
  • Collaborate with Engineering and QA teams to validate that implemented solutions meet documented requirements
  • Work as an embedded member of a cross-functional Agile team
  • Participate in and help facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and SMEs to clarify scope, priorities, and dependencies
  • Collaborate with UX Designers and Researchers to ensure requirements align with user needs and usability goals
  • Communicate requirements, decisions, risks, and progress to the team
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring shared understanding and alignment
