About The Position

CMTS is seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst I to support financial and accounting operations on large-scale construction and bond-funded programs in Los Angeles, CA. This role is responsible for financial reporting, account reconciliation, invoice processing, and supporting compliance with bond and program requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting or finance and experience working in fast-paced, project-driven environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related fields
  • Experience working with business enterprise or accounting systems
  • Experience performing historical trend analysis and interpreting results
  • Experience creating monthly financial reports and analyzing results
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with all levels of an organization
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile financial accounts and reports; identify discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Prepare and/or review financial statements, reports, and analyses; address and resolve issues
  • Interface with District staff, internal teams, and external auditors to respond to requests
  • Identify errors and implement improvements to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end activities, including accrual processes
  • Manage journal entries, debit/credit memos, approvals, and reconciliation logs
  • Approve and release invoices in accordance with accounting procedures
  • Prepare and review vendor files and supporting documentation for payments
  • Communicate with construction and professional services vendors as needed
  • Assist with general contractor payment analysis
  • Support bond-related accounting, reporting, and compliance activities
  • Track deliverables and ensure timely submission of required documentation
  • Collaborate with accounting and project teams on financial matters
  • Perform other duties as assigned
