About The Position

Join our team and be part of one of the nation's best-run transit systems. What You'll Do Maintain, repair, and overhaul RTS buses and fleet vehicles. Perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. Identify and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues. Replace and adjust parts; complete necessary testing, including test drives. Use diagnostic software and tools (e.g., AssetWorks, Cummins InSite, Allison). Complete welding, brazing, cutting torch work, and assist with towing/road calls. Conduct safety inspections and ensure proper documentation. Perform alignments and support repairs on articulated and standard buses. Work safely, efficiently, and meet competency standards. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years in an accredited diesel mechanic program or equivalent training in areas such as auto repair, hydraulics, diesel engines, EV systems, electrical repair, or welding
  • Equivalent work experience (two years of experience may substitute for one year of education)
  • Must have own tools
  • Must obtain a NYS CDL Class B permit with passenger & air brake endorsements before start, and full Class B license within 90 days
  • Must obtain a CDL Class A permit and towing endorsement (may be after hire) and full Class A license within 90 days of permit
  • English proficiency required for safety-sensitive communication, manuals, and job instructions

Responsibilities
