The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) offers a one-year, dedicated fellowship in Burn and Acute Care Surgery. Based at the South Carolina Burn Center - one of the largest and most comprehensive burn centers in the Southeast - this position provides extensive clinical and research experience in the management of burn injuries, acute surgical critical care, and complex wound care. Fellows will develop advanced competency in all aspects of burn surgery, including acute resuscitation, operative burn care, reconstructive procedures, and the multidisciplinary management of critically ill surgical patients. Educational Objectives: • Achieve high competency in burn surgery, including excision and grafting, wound management, inhalation injury care, and long-term reconstructive planning. • Develop expertise in the management of the critically ill surgical patient, including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, nutritional support, and infection control in the burn-critical care setting. • Understand all phases of burn patient care, from initial resuscitation and acute operative management through rehabilitation, scar management, and reconstructive follow-up. • Conduct bench or clinical research relevant to burn surgery or acute care surgery, with the goal of producing at least one publishable paper by the fellowship's end. • Participate in outreach, prevention, or advocacy efforts in conjunction with burn center infrastructure • Develop expertise in skin & soft tissue billing and coding • Develop an understanding of burn center operations, including organizational structure, care delivery systems, and underlying economic principles
