The department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at MUSC has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and collegial Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Noel Warfel. The Warfel lab focuses on the role of hypoxia and reoxygenation in tumor metastasis and drug resistance. The Successful candidate will perform integrated multi-omics, statistical and bioinformatics analysis to understand how temporal hypoxia alters cancer cell resistance to therapy and related biological processes. The lab is also invested in drug development and testing in prostate cancer and other solid tumors. The candidates will work to integrate multiomics data sets, including RNA-seq, lipidomics, and phosoho-proteomics Entity Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC - Univ) Worker Type Employee Worker Sub-Type Regular Cost Center CC001336 HCC Recruitment & Retention Pay Rate Type Salary Pay Grade University-00 Pay Range 0.00 - 0.00 - 0.000 Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Work Shift Job Description Job Purpose: The position will entail a combination of unbiased discovery and hypothesis-driven research to derive causal relationships between hypoxia-driven pathways contributing to cancer drug resistance. The candidate will be responsible for the generation and analysis of large-scale datasets and relating those findings to generate testable models for mechanistic investigations. Key responsibilities will be to integrate multi-omics to uncover mechanisms of therapeutic resistance and identify biological vulnerabilities related to changing oxygen in tumors. The candidate will work with the PI to implement a career development plan and participate in various career advancement opportunities.
