ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Buildings & Grounds Lead to support our Air Force customer under the ISS2 contract at Eareckson Air Station (EAS), located on Shemya Island in Alaska’s Aleutian chain. This is a rotational position: employees work 3 months on-site followed by 1 month off unpaid. While on-site, housing and meals are provided, and transportation is furnished from Anchorage to EAS via government-sponsored aircraft (employees are responsible for their own travel to Anchorage). Summary/General Description of Job:The Buildings & Grounds Lead leads a crew that performs general carpentry, maintenance and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade all facilities, structures, and utilities, including interior and exterior of buildings, sanitation systems, low voltage electrical systems, and components associated with housing and industrial facilities. Essential Duties & Job Functions: Gives guidance and direction and sets the pace for crafts persons involved in projects; assists with scheduling of work load and assignment Ensures the subordinate employees’ time records reflect an accurate record of hours worked and job order numbers to which time is charged Keeps supervisor appraised of mission status Coordinates personnel TOS requests while maintaining mission requirements Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed Plans and layouts of work from blueprints, drawings, models, and written or verbal instructions Inspects work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations Ensures work is scheduled and accomplished within established timelines Follows and ensures the assigned members of the crew follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing that pertains to particular trades or skills Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments Assists crafts persons in assigned tasks in any of the following: Maintains, repairs, and replaces doors, including overhead doors, woodwork, paneling, drywall, floor coverings, etc Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, motors, etc. Performs maintenance and repair work such as foundations, interior walls, exterior walls, all types of exterior siding, all floor covering, subfloors, structural members, roofs, catwalks, and all other building components as necessary Installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults Repairs or replaces plumbing fixtures such as sinks, faucets, toilets, etc. Replaces broken windows Performs occasional painting or touching up of structures or equipment Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work consistent to the trade Selects materials necessary for the work Maintains established keying systems for buildings Performs heavy manual work such as digging, backfilling trenches and holes, and moving heavy objects and furniture Mixes, carries, and pours concrete, maintaining walkways and steps Maintains grounds, landscaping, and plants Operates power lawn care equipment, spreader, electric and air tools, pumps, and vehicles Removes snow and ice to eliminate hazardous conditions Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed Performs other related duties as assigned.
