About The Position

Our Grounds & Buildings Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the care and maintenance of the plant floors, walls, roof, parking lot, yard, and structure to ensure compliance with McCain Grand Island Plant guidelines, inspector requirements, and safety regulations. This role will require a working schedule of Monday-Friday from 6am to 2pm.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (2-year Technical College degree preferred).
• Ability to comprehend and communicate in basic English and interact with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions with minimal guidance, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Strong ability to work independently and unsupervised.
• 6 months to 1 year in a manufacturing environment
• Maintain forklift recertification as required
• 6 months to 1 year of experience in the following areas: Plumbing, painting, and general construction.

Responsibilities

• Lawn and yard maintenance will include: Mowing, weeding, landscaping, trash pickup, and sidewalk cleaning as needed.
• Snow Removal: clearing snow and ice to maintain safe walkways, parking lot, entryways, and salting the parking lot.
• Painting and Repairs: Touch-up painting, drywall repairs, and parking lot line repainting.
• Basic Building Maintenance: Replacing Light Bulbs, roofing repairs, reorganization assistance, restocking of materials, moving boxes, offices, and hanging decor or signage.
• Facility Safety Checks: Fire Extinguisher inspections and eye wash station audits.
• Basic Plumbing: Addressing minor leaks, clogs, and other plumbing issues.
• Ceiling Tile Replacement: Replacing stained or damaged ceiling tiles.
• Parking lot and grounds upkeep: Repairing potholes and maintaining painted markings.
• Will need to operate a forklift and a highlift
• Provide mechanical help for assigned projects.
• Assist with plant preparation for inspections and audits.
• other duties as assigned by maintenance supervision
