SARA is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and experienced Building Services Technician to support activities out of our Colorado Springs, CO location. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long-standing programs and new programs supporting our customers. The Building Services Technician keeps the building in clean and orderly condition; perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish; assisting with routine maintenance activities as well as building security and safety.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 – 10 years of custodian, janitor, or building services experience
  • Flexible schedule. Typical shift is 11am – 7:30pm, but that may be adjusted as needed
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
  • May require Moderate physical effort, including standing, sitting, and use of hands while performing duties, and carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Working environment is indoor, moderately loud, reasonably clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated; moderate physical hazards may exist

Responsibilities

  • Service, clean and supply restrooms
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
  • Gather and empty trash
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
  • Notify manager concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
  • Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
  • Maintain, service, and conduct minor repairs on buildings and equipment
  • Assist with assembly, installation, or repair of machinery or equipment
  • Assist Facility Manager and other workers as needed
