About The Position

CUNY BPL is hiring a part-time Building Science Systems Educator for its Energy and Carbon Management Training Program. This position will require direct engagement in the delivery of high-quality training, participation in client discussions, and curriculum development on a flexible, part-time schedule. Collaborate on curriculum development and instructional design, providing expertise as an in-house subject matter expert. Conduct training and/or coaching sessions tailored to professionals in the building performance industry, adhering to a part-time schedule. Prepare and deliver concise summary reports and reviews for training sessions, as needed. Other duties as assigned. This part-time role is ideal for experienced professionals who seek to contribute to the field of building science education while maintaining flexibility in their schedule. The position offers an opportunity to impact the industry positively by shaping the skills and knowledge of current and future building professionals.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in building construction processes, especially retrofitting for energy and carbon emissions reduction.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC system operations and building controls.
  • Proven experience in delivering technical instruction within the building performance sector.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, architecture, construction) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM), BPI Energy Auditor, or similar.
  • At least three years of experience with building systems in design, commissioning, or operations.
  • Familiarity with project management fundamentals.
  • Experience in developing training materials and working with building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of local energy codes and regulations.
