About The Position

This position is responsible for: Performs variety of skilled maintenance work for vehicles and multiple properties including buildings and grounds. Performs skilled maintenance for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work. Monitors, supervises and directs the day-to-day maintenance and maintenance personnel. Repair and inspection of all Coastal Alabama Area Command buildings, vehicles and equipment.

Requirements

Two years course work from a technical or vocational school in construction, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning as well as pluming and electronics,
three years’ experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial building and grounds,
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining buildings, grounds, and all equipment.
Ensures that all Salvation Army property is maintained and complies with all health department, fire department, and/or all other applicable requirements and codes and brings buildings into compliance as needed.
Troubleshoots and repairs minor mechanical malfunctions and performs preventative maintenance on vehicles, vent fans, etc.
Obtains bids for services & meets service technicians for repairs that cannot be completed internally
Monitors and approves all maintenance purchases.
Collaborates with the management to discuss budgetary issues.
