About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Building Maintenance Supervisor 2, this employee will function as the assistant supervisor for the daily activities of the Building Maintenance Department staff at Cacapon Resort State Park. Responsible for project planning and scheduling, workforce assignment, supervising the conduct and ensuring the satisfactory completion of all tasks. Provides instruction to workforce, evaluates performance, and provides guidance as needed. Reports status of projects to the Building Maintenance Supervisor 2 and advises of problems or challenges. Performs a variety of clerical duties to include but not limited to: contacting vendors, complying with agency purchasing procedures to obtain goods and services; compliance reports and responses; processing leave requests, attendance and payroll reports; processing various daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports. Employee should have strong knowledge of commercial and residential building maintenance, carpentry, metal fabrication, plumbing and electrical repairs, steam boilers, air conditioning and refrigeration, commercial and residential fire alarms, commercial and household appliance repair, potable water and wastewater treatment plant operations, and telephone system troubleshooting and repair. Employee must be able to read, interpret, and revise blueprints and building plans. Must be proficient with hand and power tools. Must possess strong verbal and written communications skills, interact with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner, and maintain efficient working relationships with other staff members. Must be knowledgeable of and comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations. Must have flexibility in work schedule; will be required to respond to emergency repair calls on nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Will be required to wear a park uniform. Must possess a valid driver's license. Performs related duties as required. Regular attendance is required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent.
  • Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in general maintenance or construction work on buildings, grounds, or electrical and mechanical equipment, at least one year of which has been in a leadwork or supervisory capacity.
  • Must have strong knowledge of commercial and residential building maintenance, carpentry, metal fabrication, plumbing and electrical repairs, steam boilers, air conditioning and refrigeration, commercial and residential fire alarms, commercial and household appliance repair, potable water and wastewater treatment plant operations, and telephone system troubleshooting and repair.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and revise blueprints and building plans.
  • Must be proficient with hand and power tools.

  • Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the Clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
