Building Maintenance Mechanic
About The Position
The Jewish Community Campus, located in Overland Park, is a 280,000 square foot building on 25-acre grounds. The building is home to nine Jewish agencies including the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City. The building includes a preschool, K-12 private school, 500-seat theater, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pool, commercial kitchens, private offices and public meeting spaces. The Maintenance Mechanic troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs building equipment performing plumbing, electrical, carpentry, interior maintenance plus exterior cleaning and maintenance. Schedule Full-Time Sunday-Thursday 9:00am-5:30pm
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of experience in commercial building maintenance, diagnosis, repair and troubleshooting that includes proficiency in plumbing, lighting, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting and cleaning.
- Able to work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Able to lift 50 pounds and carry up to 90 feet
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Able to use common workplace technology such as email, internet, software, etc.
- Able to work schedule and be flexible when changes and/or overtime are required.
- Extensive walking, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting/carrying a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Good manual dexterity utilize hand tools, diagnose and make repairs.
- Good visual acuity to complete satisfactory finishes for things like paint and wallpaper or carpentry projects.
- Works outdoors in various weather conditions that may include heat, snow and/or ice.
Responsibilities
- Light plumbing maintenance including sinks, showers, toilets, urinals, etc.
- Lighting and electrical maintenance including changing ballasts, bulbs, outlets.
- Carpentry, drywall, mudding, painting and wallpapering.
- Install and maintain drop ceiling tiles.
- Outdoor Grounds maintenance, as needed like trash pick up, salt application, snow removal and more.
- Assist with room set-ups and tear-downs and general clean-up.
- Cleaning and maintenance of equipment in commercial kitchens.
- Interior trash pick-up and other cleaning as needed.
- Ability to assist Building Engineer as needed.
- Other duties assigned.
