About The Position

UG2 is seeking a skilled Building/HVAC Technician to support the daily operations of a state-of-the-art life science campus in the Boston area. This role is critical to ensuring reliable building performance and serves as a key point of contact for ownership while contributing to system functionality and operational excellence. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of relevant building engineering or HVAC experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with large-tonnage HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with BMS/BAS systems and controls.
  • Ability to service cooling towers, centrifugal pumps, VAV boxes, and energy management systems.
  • Wastewater Treatment License or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
  • Ability to act as Lead Engineer when required.
  • Reliable, professional, and safety-focused work ethic.
  • Active Massachusetts Refrigeration License (Required)
  • Universal CFC Certification (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of hands-on MEP experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Basic math and computer skills (email, internet, electronic manuals).
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Desire to grow technically and professionally within a team environment.
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • MEP License and/or certifications (Preferred)
  • Hot Work Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Monitor and diagnose building systems using the Building Management System (BMS).
  • Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, VAV boxes, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Rebuild or replace pumps and refrigeration compressors as required.
  • Support daily operation of the Energy Management System, Building Automation System, and Fire/Life Safety Systems.
  • Respond to service requests and emergencies, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct routine inspections and tours of mechanical rooms, roofs, grounds, and tenant spaces.
  • Maintain accurate communication with ownership and site leadership regarding system status and completed work.
  • Coordinate effectively with contractors and vendors.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in mechanical and electrical spaces.
  • Assist other trades and support project work, including material takeoffs and ordering.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with UG2 Standard Operating Procedures and safety policies.
