This position serves as a Building Attendant for the Cultural Affairs Division within the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. The role provides on-site support for cultural facilities and events, helping ensure spaces are prepared, welcoming, and operating smoothly for programs, rentals, and public activities. The Cultural Affairs Division produces festivals, concerts, performances, exhibitions, educational workshops, historic and cultural programs, ceremonies, and community celebrations. The Building Attendant plays an important role in supporting these activities by assisting with facility oversight, event setup and cleanup, basic facility maintenance, and guest services. This position averages approximately 20-25 hours per week, with hours scheduled based on program and event needs, including evenings and weekends. Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under close supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of supervisory responsibility and from lower classes by its emphasis on setting up and monitoring city events. This is maintenance work facilitating events involving the use and care of City buildings and equipment.
