About The Position

Operating for over 100 years, Cold River Camp is on the Maine/ New Hampshire border tucked away in peaceful Evans Notch. During the summer and fall seasons, Cold River Camp is a full-service AMC facility offering individual cabin accommodation. White Mountain National Forest (WMNF) rivers, ponds, back roads, and hiking trails surround Cold River Camp where guests launch daily adventures and outdoor exploration. Family-style meals are served in the lodge dining room. Guests stay for week-long sessions from late June through Labor Day. In the Off-Season, the Camp has one cabin that is rented for self-service groups, and the Camp is used for trail and facility work events, weddings and other special events in the spring and fall. What You’ll Be Doing at AMC The Summer Buildings and Maintenance Associate is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Camp’s many buildings, utilities, and grounds. This position is integral to maintaining a beautiful campus that welcomes and serves the needs of guests. The Summer Buildings and Maintenance Associate reports to the Summer Manager and Assistant Manager, the Off-Season Manager, the volunteer Facilities Coordinator, and Year-Round Buildings and Maintenance Associate. This work is completed on-site at Camp.

Requirements

  • Prior light construction and maintenance experience
  • Ability to form relationships with vendors, camp staff and volunteers
  • Physical ability to carry up to 40 pounds and walk, stand, sit, lift 25 pounds from floor to waist high and to perform all work responsibilities without assistance (Required)
  • Ability to be a team player (Required)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds in an inclusive environment (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to use email/text, and tools such as Excel, to communicate and track progress (Helpful)
  • First Aid certification (Helpful)

Responsibilities

  • Complete small maintenance projects as directed by the Summer Manager and Assistant Manager, the Off-Season Manager, the volunteer Facilities Coordinator, and Year-Round Buildings and Maintenance Associate.
  • Respond in a timely manner to emergent guest-facing maintenance needs during Prep Week, Summer Season, and Extension. The timeframe may adjust based on on-going facilities projects.
  • Bring any issues or concerns to the Managers.
  • Other duties as assigned
