Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in government or not-for-profit accounting, contracting or finance.
  • Proficient in excel, pivot table analysis, PowerPoint, and word, adaptable to new technology.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities to ensure financial decisions support overall goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assists VP and AVP in budget planning, monitoring and contract management of NYC, NYS, federal and other funding sources.
  • Liaison between Finance budget and contract billing units and NYF programs to maximize reimbursement and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Develop contract and other NYF budgets on annual and as-needed basis to ensure alignment with all requirements, contract terms, and New York Foundling financial and programmatic priorities.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders to monitor spending and staff cost allocations; maximize funding streams and maintain revenue in alignment with budget projections.
  • Provide re-estimates and budget updates on a regular basis to CFO, VP and AVP and notify supervisors timely of anomalies and other matters related to contract and budget expectations and compliance.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors, funders and program staff to ensure timely and accurate management of contract awards, registrations, renewals and reporting requirements.
  • Represent Finance in budget preparation and reporting, RFP proposal responses, and revenue maximization exercises.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen budget management, tracking and reporting functions.
  • Maintain updated tracking of expenditures, including PS and OTPS trends, subcontractor performance and other categories; perform variance analysis comparing actuals to budget and forecasts, identify drivers, and recommend corrective actions; and monitor staff cost allocations to ensure alignment with approved contract budgets and funding requirements.
  • Analyze expenditure categories and suggest opportunities for budget efficiencies and revenue maximization in line with the Foundling’s mission and goals.
