The Budget and Accounting Analyst is a non-partisan position within the Legislative Services Division’s Financial Office. This role is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Montana Legislative Branch’s biennial budget and related financial functions. The position performs complex professional accounting duties, conducts financial analysis, ensures compliance with state laws and policies, and collaborates with legislative leaders and staff to provide accurate fiscal data and projections. Key responsibilities include preparing budget reports, reconciling accounts, evaluating program expenditures, supporting fiscal note development, and advising on budgetary policy. The analyst may specialize in either budgeting or accounting functions, but all incumbents are expected to work collaboratively across financial areas to ensure the fiscal integrity of the Branch.
