About The Position

The BSA Analyst has an advanced knowledge of BSA/AML policy, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Backs up the BSA Officer with BSA related questions from staff and any daily procedures. Performs in-depth analysis of all BSA/AML activities. The BSA Analyst is responsible for oversight of, preparation, and filing of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR’s), analyzing account activity to identify potential suspicious activity, and performing customer due diligence. He or she will filter incoming calls, scan, and file confidential documents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and customers both verbally and in written format.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to oversee and delegate the duties of BSA Staff.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Proficient in typing and 10-key calculator.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze information in order to draw a conclusion.
  • Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with co-workers, customers, and peers.
  • Must possess analytical and mathematical skills for research purposes.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Must have reliable transportation to commute to and from work.
  • Must be able to work at a computer station in front of a monitor for up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to interact with the public utilizing various methods of communication.
  • Employee may be required to squat multiple times per day and remain in that position for short periods of time while accessing filing cabinets at ground level. This could occur as few or as many times as necessary to accomplish the required task.
  • Must be able to lift and carry approximately 20-30 pounds multiple times throughout the day.
  • Must have the attention span to stay alert and attentive during a normal 8-hour workday.
  • The BSA Analyst must be able to make sound, quick decisions based on the facts of a situation and remain calm and in control in a possible ever-changing environment or an emergency.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and procedures exactly as trained or as directed by his or her supervisor.
  • Must be able to listen to, grasp, and respond positively to supervision and instructions by Management.
  • Physical and cognitive ability to perform the essential duties and functions of his/her job.
  • Ability to safeguard and maintain confidential information as directed by Federal law and Company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in producing and filing Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Reports.
  • Experience in analyzing AML alerts and conducting a full BSA investigation.
  • Experience in reviewing and reporting OFAC matches.

Responsibilities

  • Backup to the BSA Officer & OFAC Officer.
  • Provides the Synergy Bank standard of excellence in customer service.
  • Maintains honesty and the highest level of ethical standards.
  • Maintains ongoing enhanced due diligence for high-risk customers.
  • Oversees gathering of daily CTR information from Tellers and prepares documents for review and electronic filing. Serves as primary electronic filer to FinCEN.
  • Performs research and gathers information on potential suspicious activity.
  • Completes research for daily alerts through the Bank’s AML system.
  • Aids BSA Staff in scanning confidential documents for record retention.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls from internal and external customers.
  • Provide assistance within the BSA department inclusive of various other duties and special projects as directed by Management.
  • Provides backup to the OFAC Officer for review of OFAC possible matches.
  • Uploads and reviews 314(a) lists.
